Santamarina x Gimnasia Jujuy
Gimnasia Jujuy needs this badly. They can close the gap to just one point behind leaders Talleres Cordoba if they get a win today, and that's important because Jujuy will then host Talleres next weekend in a top of the table clash. If they can also win that game, Jujuy would then be two points clear at the top, occupying the sole promotion place. Gimnasia Jujuy goes into this match in good form, 3 straight wins and unbeaten in five. They've also kept a clean sheet in their last four matches, and we should note theirs is the strongest defense in the league with just five goals conceded in 11 games, three of which came in a single game, their thrilling 4-3 win over Boca Unidos about 3 weeks ago. Santamarina aren't doing so great now. They had a good start to the season and also looked solid defensively, but their problem is they lost virtually all of last season's squad, which came agonizingly close to promotion. Their new team is made up of mostly younger, inexperienced players, and it's starting to show. Recent form has been poor, they lost 3 games in a row before ending that run with a 1-1 draw away to Almagro. But Santamarina has one of the most feeble attacks in the division, just 7 goals scored in 10 games, so they will be hard pressed to crack Jujuy's stingy defense. Santamarina are well out of the promotion race too, so little motivation for them in this game. Jujuy seems to be missing its main striker Martin Michel, but considering he's only scored once in 9 matches I guess his not playing doesn't quite mean it's the end of the world. Santamarina don't have any important missings. I think with Jujuy's form and motivation they ought to be slight favorites here. The bookies have it the other way round so the Asian 0 handicap offers good value.
