Chile puts on a show
I like Chile very much. They are a very offensive side. However it seems that they can not convert their posession and goalscoring chances into victories. This maybe due to their poor defence, or maybe it's just negligence. Let's talk about the players. They have Vidal(Juventus) a very complete midifelder. He playes offence, defence, he shoots from outside the box, he infiltrates waiting for through passes, a very clever player. Alexis Sanchez had a very good season at Barcelona, stealing the show from an out-of-form Messi many times. The offensive trio is completed by Edu Vargas, a player that exploded this year. He came in January on loan from Napoli and was an instant hit. He scored 3 goals, started in 17 matches and the impression was that he was among Valencia's best players, leaving Jonas on the bench many times. Anyway, back to the Chilean NT. They impressed in most friendlies, especially vs Germany, last year, when despite losing 1-0 they completely dominated that match. I remember I betted on it, Chile +1.5. They are very bad at defending set-pieces(they have short players) so this will be the key for them.Coach
I think that Sampaoli is a good coach. He managed to do great things with Universidad de Chile in 2011(he won the championship and the Copa Sudamericana), and he brought some players to the NT as well, like Vargas, Diaz and Aranguiz. I like it very much when a coach likes to use the same players and makes a connection with them. He trusts them and they do their best not to disappoin them. Especiall Diaz and Aranguiz must be really grateful that they get to play at this WC alongside Vidal, Alexis and others.Prediction
I think this is their tournament. I think they will qualify out of the group stages. My prediction is Chile to qualify @ 1.8.
